This is a tangential honey extractor and it is best to turn the handle gently and spin out halve of the honey from one side of the frame then stop and turn the frames around to spin out all the honey from the other side. Then stop again to turn the frames around again to spin out the remainder of the honey from the first side.
Process:
Warm up the supers to about 40 deg C to make sure the honey can be spun out easily. Remove the wax cappings with the uncapping knife or uncapping fork. Place the frames into the extractor in the cages and spin out the honey by turning the handle. Make sure the honey gate is closed !
When finished extracting, or when the honey starts building up in the extractor, pour off the honey into the 30lb honey buckets, by opening the honey gate of the extractor.
When you have finished extracting, the honey can be left in the honey buckets until you are ready for the next step.
To prepare the honey for jarring, it is best to warm the honey again to 35-40 deg C, to allow you to pass the honey through the 3 leg strainer.
Place the 3 leg Strainer on top of the 20L Settling Tank and pour through the honey.
The honey should then be left in the settling tank for 24-48 hours before pouring into jars.
We also supply a large variety of jars
