A Plastic Honey Extractor with Lid and Honey Gate.

Approximate Dimensions: 64cm High x 40cm dia (at top)

It can take two super frames of any size or British National deep brood or Langstroth Frames.

Not 14x12"

This is a tangential honey extractor and it is best to turn the handle gently and spin out halve of the honey from one side of the frame then stop and turn the frames around to spin out all the honey from the other side. Then stop again to turn the frames around again to spin out the remainder of the honey from the first side.

Simply warm up the supers to about 40 deg C to make sure the honey can be spun out easily. Remove the wax cappings with a knife or uncapping fork, available separately. Place into the extractor in the cages and spin out the honey by turning the handle. Make sure the honey gate is closed !

Open the gate to poor the honey into honey buckets ready for filtering.

Honey extractor

Arrived promptly, and appears good value materials look solid. With no instructions having never extracted honey before, couldn’t get the Langstroth frames to fit standing upright. Not sure why but managed tilted backwards. Extracted honey well though so overall a good purchase

I’ve been hiring my bee club extractor since I started beekeeping 8 years ago. However circumstances have changed recently so I decided to purchase my own extractor for the one remaining hive.
I decided to go with a simple plastic two frame extractor and was really pleased with my choice. It arrived exactly as promised, was well packed and of sturdy construction.
Once I had my Supers removed and the extraction room set up, the process of honey removal was pretty simple and productive.
I only have a few other comments:
1. Some simple instructions would have helped but I did find a YouTube video that clarified my queries
2. When spinning the extractor moves around the table but I soon found a method of reducing this problem with a ratchet strap, and
3. Whereas on frame fitted in place vertically, the other one “flopped” to approximately 45degrees. However this didn’t appear to affect extraction.
So, in summary, a great purchase which did the job well.

cheap and cheerful, but works for a low volume setup.

We are hobby beekeepers and stick to just 2 hives, so difficult to justify the cost of an extractor. Borrowed extractors before but always a pain as everyone wants to use at the same time and hassle collecting and returning.
This was great, not perfect, but worked fine to extract our early harvest super. The cage gearing is a bit low so not easy to get a high spin speed, but spun out our 12kgs just fine. Other gripe is that removing the cage to do a through clean is very fiddly, requiring 4 bolts to be removed. But as it's a plastic bucket there is no seam at the bottom so easy to clean and nowhere for wax to get trapped. No idea how long the plastic gears will last, but sure I could find replacements online if necessary.
For the money, just what we wanted, no more tracking down club equipment, waiting for it to become free, finding it needs a proper clean before it can be used etc.
